Placing Blame

BooksSometimes the blogging world is a funny place, because (in general) most of us are book bloggers (at least those of us participating in #BBAW), we tend to all have  a pretty good idea of what’s new and what’s good. But as it is impossible to read them all, we have to trust others to point us to the ones we will like.

Here are a few of my most trusted sources and all around bloggers that can usually tell if I’ll like something or not. This is CERTAINLY not an exhaustive list.

Kate at Books Are My Favourite and Best. Pretty much anything she says is a must, I’ll pick up. We have similar reading tastes, so in the same vein, if she says to give it a miss, I will.

Bonnie at For the Love of Words. Bonnie shares my love of dark fiction, as well as Joe Hill, and Karina Halle. Her most recent successful recommendation? Sweetgirl by Travis Mulhauser.

Sarah at Sarah’s Book Shelves. I can usually tell based on her reviews whether or not a book will work for me. And based on her recommendation of Gates of Evangeline, I bought it and loved it. It broke me out of my blogging and reading funk.

Shannon at River City Reading. Shannon shares my love of quirky fiction and dark fiction, as well as shares my love for Donald Ray Pollock. One of my favorite books was recommended by her – The Son by Philipp Meyer.

Carolyn at Rosemary and Reading Glasses. Carolyn shares my love for one of my favorite contemporary authors, Richard Russo, as well as writes some of the most intelligent, thoughtful reviews. My favorite recommendation she has given me – The Sasquatch Hunter’s Almanac by Sharma Shields.

Maria Helena at Marelden. She shares my love for music, books, and mysteries and I can count on her for a shared appreciation for Scandinavian detectives.
