Holiday gift guide: A top ten list for Santa

The Christmas season, and December in general, is my favorite time of the year. I love the cold weather, snow, winter clothes, the necessity of boots, the Santa and polar bear Coca-Cola ads, the music (but only in December please, Christmas is not in October), the giving of gifts, the list goes on and on. I even sleep better when it’s cold.  This week’s top ten list (as hosted by The Broke and The Bookish) is the ‘Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Bringing Me’. A few are these are books that I’ve read and would like to own, some I’ve just heard great things about. So if anyone is feeling particularly generous…

Truly, in no particular order:

10. The Painted Veil by W. Somerset Maugham

9. Drood by Dan Simmons

8. Washington Square by Henry James

7. The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson

6. Ablutions: Notes for a Novel by Patrick deWitt

5. Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk by Ben Fountain

4. Heft by Liz Moore

3. Crimes in Southern Indiana: Stories by Frank Bill

2. The Orphan Master’s Son by Adam Johnson

1. The Devil All the Time by Donald Ray Pollock

So what book would you love to be gifted? Any recommendations? Happy Christmas! And happy holidays to anyone who will not be celebrating Christmas, may December make you as happy as it makes me.
